Updated at 10 a.m. — Haven Arts, a private, minority-owned art gallery, will open in historic downtown Manassas. Located in the U.S. Postal Building at 9108 Church Street, the studio will feature a variety of pop and modern artwork, fashion, and other merchandise from local talent.
“Haven Arts is a safe place for artists to create and express themselves through art, music and other forms of creative expression. Community outreach, merchandise sales to small businesses, arts programs for underserved residents, music and creative events are some of the ways we seek to engage our surrounding community while developing cultural opportunities and recreational facilities available in the Manassas area,” says owner Paul Dallas. in a press release.
Haven Arts celebrated its grand opening on Saturday, September 3. The United States Postal Service continues to operate a post office in part of the building.
The opening of the new gallery comes as the city has also begun renovating and expanding the Manassas Museum. The $6.8 million project will add new galleries, event space and outdoor spaces to enhance attraction for visitors, residents and spectators.
The expansion will be completed next year.
