HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) – Are you looking for a creative way to beat the heat this weekend? The Hattiesburg Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a July Art Market this Saturday, July 30.
The market will be held at the Hattiesburg Community Arts Center and admission is free to the public.
Visitors can stroll through the center’s classrooms and studios to view and purchase works of art from local artists and dealers.
Community Arts Center director Emily Gallaspy said there will be free arts and crafts, dance performances by USA DANCE and live music by Holley Rumbarger.
“We host a monthly art market here to help promote some of our local artists and stimulate our creative economy here in Hattiesburg,” Gallaspy said. “It will be about three dozen artists.”
Due to the heat, Gallaspy decided to hold the July market in a different area of the arts center. She hopes it will attract more visitors.
“It will be installed here in front of the community arts center,” Gallaspy said. “We usually do it in the back warehouse, but it’s a little too hot for the warehouse market, so we’ll be opening the classrooms and the galleries.”
The center hosts art markets on the last Saturday of every month.
The July Art Market will be held at the Hattiesburg Parks and Recreation Community Arts Center this Saturday, July 30 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
