City of Pitt Meadows to host Open Art Studio for free this year – Maple Ridge News

The City of Pitt Meadows is hosting an open art studio this year and will be offering the studio space free twice a month to aspiring and experienced artists.

The city welcomes artists, from beginners to those more experienced and passionate about the visual arts, or those who want to work, learn, share and engage with other like-minded people in the community, to attend the free Open Sessions. art Studio at the South Bonson Community Center. The next free art session will take place on February 16 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and the next one will take place on March 1 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

A full schedule of sessions can be viewed at:

Space is limited, up to 12 artists per session and one per table.

Attendees will need to bring their own supplies and may not share with others as a safety measure against COVID-19. Although tables and chairs are provided, since the sessions are self-contained, set-up or tear-down and clean-up will need to be done by the attendees.

The Open Art Studio will also feature an artist for each term throughout the year. Featured artists will begin each session with a one-hour workshop followed by two hours of open studio where the artist will remain present to answer questions and give constructive feedback and suggestions.

Each workshop will focus on a specific topic or technique and will appeal to all skill levels. The city is now looking for experienced instructors and professional visual artists to be one of the featured artists for February, May, August and November.
