Art Studio 126 Main in downtown Penn Yan reopens after flooding

PENN YAN – Penn Yan’s newest art studio opened in June 2020 on Main Street in Penn Yan by Crissy McGinness and Macy Hall. It was their dream to open a boutique to take their skills and craftsmanship to the next level, and that’s exactly what they did – unfortunately during a pandemic which presented many challenges, but they have success.

The Art Studio 126 Main location is at the back entrance of the Village Drug Store. Follow the path and signs through the Main Street mini-park to their work studio and shop. Inside, you’ll find a colorful array of glass mosaics, clay sculptures, jewelry, needle-felted designs, hand-painted Adirondack chairs, and more.

The store was damaged by a winter storm in February and had to unexpectedly close for nearly a month for repairs. Since enduring opening a business during a pandemic, it was just a bump in the road for the enthusiastic duo.

On Friday, March 4, they were able to reopen to the public with a ribbon cutting to celebrate with the Yates County Chamber of Commerce after recently joining as a member of the chamber.

“We are thrilled to be open again and can’t wait to see everyone,” McGinness said. “After two years of Covid restrictions, we are looking forward to summer and growing our community connections. Downtown Penn Yan has grown so much in recent years, and we are blessed to be a part of it.”

Their current hours of operation are Fridays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Summer hours begin May 1, and will be Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Follow them on Facebook and Instagram for updates and news.
