WHEELING – On Friday evening, Clientele Art Studio’s new series of exhibitions kicks off with local artist Logan Schmitt.
The series, titled Artist Showcase, highlights selected local artists who decorate the gallery space according to their artistic style. The show is free and begins at 6 p.m. today, Friday, February 11.
“I am very happy to have my work exhibited at Clientele,” said illustrator Logan Schmitt. “I’ve never had a solo show here in Wheeling, so I’m excited to share what I’ve been working on over the past few years with people in my hometown.”
Schmitt, an illustrator who grew up in the woods of Wheeling, said his fascination with nature and small forest locations permeates his work and is an ongoing source of inspiration. Stylistically, he uses lines and flat colors to present animals and other natural elements in an otherworldly light.
The event will also host a live bird exhibit from the Appalachian Bird Conservation Center.
Based in Morgantown, ACCA promotes bird and habitat conservation in Appalachia and educates the public about birds, their habitats, and the ecosystems upon which growing human populations and wildlife depend.
Will Wallace, owner of Clientele Art Studio, said he was delighted to see this event taking shape.
“Logan is arguably one of the best young artists in West Virginia, as well as the tri-state area,” Wallace said. “He has created officially licensed works for bands such as Grateful Dead, Van Morrison, The Avett Brothers, Old Crow Medicine Show, Chris Stapleton, Eric Church and many more. The fact that artists like Logan are returning home to live in Wheeling really shows what our city has to offer.
“The inclusion of an ACCA live bird display is an amazing addition to what will be a great show.”
The Artist Showcase Series will spotlight four distinct artists in February and March. Starting with Schmitt, the event will then spotlight Zane Miller, Natalie Kovacs and Morgan Wiedebusch. The showcase will return next winter and will be open to applications. Submissions will be processed on the Clientele website and will open later this year.
The event will begin at 6 p.m. at Clientele Art Studio, located at 43-15th St., Wheeling, and admission is free. Clientele Art Studio is open Friday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
